We had high hopes for a sail day today, but they winds were pretty light and coming in from the wrong direction. We were only able to put up a little canvas for part of the journey and it was just the jib – but we did make Josh crank her in. We decided to drop them off at Red Hook (where they left their car) and agreed to meet in a few hours on Megan’s Bay where Josh would pick us up and take us to their house. Matt and I brought the big boat over which took all of 90 minutes, found a great anchorage, packed a small bag and headed to shore. They had rented a beautiful home at the top of a mountain that overlooked Megan’s Bay and the ocean. By the time we arrived, they had pork tenderloin on the grill, cold beverages in hand, a load of laundry going, and were lounging by the infinity edge pool. Yes, they had kindly agreed to help me with several loads of laundry – the best guests ever! Talk about a fabulous change of pace, chillaxin by the pool. The great conversation went on into the wee hours of the night, but I would not know as I passed out before sailor’s midnight.
Monday, we met up at the beach on Megan’s Bay – this is where Matt and I got married almost 12 years ago! We had not been back since then and it was a little surreal. Still as beautiful as it was back then! We found a cozy spot on the beach and hung out until the sun went down. It was sad to part with our friends, but alas they had to leave STT to go back to work. Thank you for hanging on Sugar Shack!
Matt thought it would be super cool to take a sit on a life guard stand and as I came around to take his photo a lifeguard came up and said “Ya, document that! He is not supposed to be up there.” So, I walked around to the other sign and read it out loud capturing Matt realizing the error of his ways (read #7 on the sign).
