Passage to Marquesas – End of Day 02

All in all a good day, light winds easy seas. While earlier we missed the rain clouds, one finally caught up with us. Not enough rain to even rinse the boat, but did steal the wind, forcing a change of course for a bit while the cloud passed by.

After tacking back and forth into the wind we are now 380 miles from the destination, probably 150 miles the water to only go 120 miles toward the destination. Oh well, we will get there. All good on board a Asian Chicken Salad for dinner as the sun set.

Passage to Marquesas – Day 02

Tacking back and forth, making East and then some North. Over night was bumpy and the wind was double the forecast. Today the wind is supposed to shift to the East and allow us a to head directly to the destination. That forecast was spot on, until a rain squall sucked all the air and we wait for the wind to return.

It’s a beautiful day out here, the rain missed us. Lots of blue skies and blue water and small seas and light winds. Boat is just doing what the boat does, sails along peacefully.

Some days it feels like just a hover board, just floating.

Passage to Marquesas Day 01

And here we go, 505 miles from Makemo to Nuka Hiva. Weather was supposed to be light, with winds from the north, well the wind direction was correct. We left around noon today, out the pass of Makemo in a rain storm and late to slack tide made for an E-ticket roller coaster white knuckle departure. Worth a beer to get this passage started.

All good onboard, had a “chipotle bowl” for dinner just like home and it’s an easy passage meal when the waves are rockin.
