Yesterday we covered over 80 miles to get from Les Saintes to Jolly Harbor, Antigua and made excellent time. We pulled off the hook around 630am and rolled into Jolly around 4p just in time for Matt to hustle to town to try to clear us into the country (customs and immigration closed at “4p”). Luckily he was able to clear us in so we could go ashore. We relaxed a little and then the boys went to fixing the starboard bilge/watermaker issue (will let Matt describe as he is more technical/mechanical). We went ashore to the Spinnaker bar which is now the “retirement” bar and no longer has spinnakers as its rooftop. We cannot remember how long ago its been since we were here, but probably close to 4-5 years, too long. We did meet a local named “Christian” who charters day trips for retirement and had some some good stories (knows the AC Antigua racer on Oracle and said he would introduce me, but alas he never came). We enjoyed some cold beverages there before heading over to the new place for some food and live entertainment – not sure if the food was a fabulous as I thought it was or if I was just that hungry!. We shared some caprese salad and pizza. Way past sailor’s midnight so we headed back to the boat for a final night cap and then to bed. This is a super quiet bay (we anchored out and did not pick up a ball) Very shallow at about 4-5 meters so the water is an amazing turquoise blue-just calls you to jump in!
